Subject: Re: [AMIA-L] "Dating Game" archives
The Dating Game used to be seen several times a week on "GTV", the
former "Game Show Network". I believe they were a Mark Goodson/Bill
Toddman Productions, but check on that.
You might try giving the GTV folks a call and see who the present
vendor is and get their contact information.
ABC would not have owned the show since the FCC's Fin/Syn (Financial
interest & Syndication) rules that were in effect during that period
prevented the networks from owning the shows they transmitted. That
is why Viacom is now an independent company: it started as the
syndication unit of CBS and was spun off in 1971 when the Fin/Syn
rules required the nets to divest themselves of all interest in the
programs they owned and produced. It is possible ABC/Disney/Buena
Vista Entertainment may have regained the show through a purchase,
but not likely.
