*Diotima: Materials for the Study of Women and Gender in the Ancient World*
has added some very interesting new material to its anthology of
translations (http://www.uky.edu/ArtsSciences/Classics/anthology.html) in
the past year or so:

** Greek texts:

Sophocles' Antigone, translated with commentary by William Blake Tyrell and
Larry J. Bennett

The Fragments of Neophron's Medea, translation and notes by Celia Luschnig

Hypotheses and Selected Scholia to Euripides' Medea, translation and notes
by Celia Luschnig

Euripides, The Cretans, fr. 472e Kannicht = fr. 11 Page = fr. 82 Austin
(from Perg. Berol. 13217, lost) translated by P. T. Rourke

Aėtius on Clitoridectomy: translation and notes by Mary R. Lefkowitz

** Latin texts:

Catullus 16, translated by Diane Arnson Svarlien (NC-17)

John T. Quinn has added Epodes 2 ("Beatus ille," featured in Oxford Latin
course), 11, 14, and 15 to his collection of Horace's Epodes.

Steven J. Willett has added C. 2.8, 2.12, and 3.7 to his collection of
Horace's Odes.

** See Also (at other sites):

Links have been added to relevant material from "PBS Frontline: From Jesus
to Christ. Collection of Primary Sources."

Remember Diotima at syllabus-making time, or for impromptu course
enhancements. The anthology also includes the full text of another play by
Sophocles (_Women of Trachis_, translated by Robert M. Torrance) as well as
poems and excerpts from Hesiod, Sappho, Semonides of Amorgos, Herodotus,
Euripides, Diogenes Laertius, Catullus, Sulpicia, and Ovid; Egyptian and
Coptic texts; substantial extracts from Fant & Lefkowitz's _Women's Life in
Greece and Rome_; and a Latin reader, "De Feminis Romanis." The site is
fully searchable and, in addition to the anthology, contains a wealth of
bibliographies, essays, course materials, and links.

All of the texts on Diotima are free for the downloading; the copyrights
are held by the individual translators, who reserve all rights, and give
permission to distribute their work at no cost to students. All we ask is
that you send a brief e-mail to notify the translator(s) whose work you are
assigning, so they will know that their work is being put to good use.

If you are interested in contributing a translation to Diotima, please
contact the Translation Editor, Diane Arnson Svarlien
([log in to unmask]). We are interested in fresh, readable translations,
either in well-crafted verse, or in straightforward, elegantly accurate
prose. Any work that contributes to the study of women and/or gender in
antiquity will be considered.
