Keynote: A Perspective on Assessment and Its Support of Learning
Speaker: Dr. Steven Weisler
Assessment Consultant; Co-Author of Theory of Language and of Cognitive
Dr. Weisler holds an M.A. in Speech Communication from Case Western
University and Ph.D. in Linguistics from Stanford University. He is the
former provost at Dominican University of California and spent the
earlier part of his career at Hampshire College in a variety of faculty
and administrative roles, including Dean of Enrollment and Assessment.
Dr. Weisler is the former director of the Teagle Assessment Scholars
Program at Wabash College and was a fellow of the New Leadership
Alliance for Student Learning and Accountability. He has participated
in the support of assessment for several years and led workshops on
achieving assessment results that transform campus culture. Currently
he is working as an independent assessment consultant.
Three sessions of your choice in three time slots will focus on
successful implementation of Assessment practices experienced by local
Higher Education institutions. The focused areas of these presentations
include General Education, First Year, capstone, closing the assessment
loop, tools, data, change management, to enhance teaching and learning.
Presenters are from many New England universities and community
colleges, as well as some out of state colleges. The presenters have
been involved on their campuses in the development and implementation of
successful assessment plans. Detailed Agenda with abstracts of

committed to student success.
